I’m a Portland, Oregon based musician (primarily Hammond organ). I’m originally from the San Francisco Bay Area but am now an Oregon Music Hall of Fame inductee. My channel includes many videos of my various groups performing live, along with videos of friends performing, cat & family videos, and more.
Also, there are some rare videos of great soul, jazz, blues, & gospel artists that I recorded off the air with a SVHS tape machine back in the day. I don’t on the rights to those, and I share them free of charge in hopes others will enjoy them as I do. There are many more of those videos in my “Video Vault” that I intend to start sharing soon.
Enjoy!

"Merle Haggard re/ Renato Caranto"
Просмотров 3923 месяца назад
In this excerpt from an 2014 interview with Kix Brooks, the late, great country music legend Merle Haggard talks about his saxophonist Renato Caranto. He starts by saying, "Renato Caranto is the greatest horn player I’ve heard in my life. I can’t tell you; it’s UN-believable!” Incidentally, Renato has nothing but raves for his late boss. Frequently when sidemen work with music legends, they eme...

So in addition to Hank and David Sanborn that's definitely Howard Johnson on Baritone. But who are the others?
If you hear the weeping old woman, run it’s a wolf.
Amazing
Best Bond song ever.
This song gave me goosebumps. Mariah sang so effortlessly. Her voice was so pure. I loved how she looked a little awkward and then belted out that song. It was so unexpected.
Absolutely crushed this theme song
Mariah Carey had a clear vision for her style of singing since day 1. Just WOW 😮
Incredible.
Thus her illustrious career began
I love how people more and more got in awe by hearing her singing...Amazing!
Wow, brah. What awesome chops ... impressive, beautiful altissimo, tone, and phrasing. Da' kine to da'max Sax! 👍🎷🎶
Coisa Linda. Negra Linda.. posturada. Voz. Elegância... Simplesmente uma Lady...😊
Yooo, the players at the end there after that Mariah whistle was like "WTF just happened". Mariah Carey just happened. The palace definitely has a new QUEEN and she made tbat first debut in style and has been here since #QueenMariah ❤
Her vibrato and resonance on mid and upper belts and the F6 whistle note are just off the charts. We don't get these kinds of vocal performances anymore.
She had a little black dress, some hairs spray, and a dream….
See you on the other side 🪄
I came from twitter to see this.. and WOW👏👏
That from sea to shinning sea started off rough. Let’s be real
Granted: no doubt a bit of nerves, standing out there all by herself, singing in front of a national t.v. audience for the first time. But by the end, she was killing it!
THANKS Tracy! Nice to have *some* video of this performance.
Horrible
Ha, ha! You can't please everyone, as everyone has different taste. But with the nearly 3,400 previous comments on this video being almost universally rave reviews, you might consider having your hearing checked. 🙂
A MOMENT IN HISTORY ❤
Richard Tee piano track Amazing
Agreed--with Tee's Hammond organ also on the backing track.
Great!
The gratest voice of all time has arrived!
A Maior Vocalista de todos os tempos ♥
Sempre Gladys... Diva..,.❤❤❤❤
Uma Lady...... Simplesmente 😅
Sax and keys were on fire
Thanks. I checked out a couple of your videos, and you sound good yourself!
Wish I lived where you live!
may 15th, 1990 happy 34th anniversary mama 💗
DAVID SANBORN REMINDS ME OF ELVIS PRESLEY. HE GOT PAID PAID PAID FOR SOUNDING JUST LIKE HIS IDOL - HANK CRAWFORD. I'M JUST SAYING! WELCOME TO AMERICAN CAPITALISM.
Yes couldn't agree more🎯💯
Yeah, but in contrast to the overrated Elvis, he *paid his dues" and **he paid his proper respect (as is made obvious on this video…) to those who were his forebears. He also dedicated an entire album to another alto player (with just as much talent as Sir Hank) Julius Hemphill and a lot of people know how about Sir Julius's work thanks to Sanborn.
R.I.P David Sanborn.
Special meaning now that Dave is no longer earthbound
I'm very sorry to hear this sad news! "Night Music" was one of Sanborn's great accomplishments. It's almost unimaginable that he managed to get such a high quality, jazz-oriented live music program onto network t.v. It was stunning at the time, and unimaginable today. R.I.P. David.
un plaisir d'écouter et de fondre dans l'espace temps😌
Vim aqui lembrar que Deus deu essa voz só pra ela ❤❤❤
This is the VERY best version of this song! She kicked the doors down!

As a Mariah fan, ive read hundreds of thousands of comments throughout the years in regards to this video of her singing at this NBA game. Matter of fact, i probably read millions of comment about Mariah even before RUclips was invented in 2005 but 1 thing i never see anyone mention or take notice to is her jawline or oral cavity. Look at her mouth. During her young prime, her lips always looked pursed even in interviews. Her jaws and the jaw her mouth look in the relax stage was very unique. Hard to explain in words or illustration because it looked like her jaw was wired for some time or something. Its a mix of her pursing his lips and having an exceedingly strong oral cavity as if she can bite through wood. Seriously, all jokes aside, she's already a remarkable beautiful woman with possibly best singing voice of all time but her mouth though. Her mouth look like a cage. As if she's holding something from within. Like a siren. There's a reason why this channel owner particularly chose this still shot of her. It looks like she is clenching the hell out of the lips and jaw combined
Goosebumps!!
Like dogs hearing the whistle they all perked up....Brava Queen-riah!
💎💎💎💎
Why wasn’t she credited in the movie for singing this score? Every other singer received credits in other Bond movies
Superb👌
After watching her in Vegas last night, I had to come and rewatch this for the 70th time. Queen.
It's hurts to see such a difference in her singing back in 1990 compare to her in Las Vegas few weeks ago. Completely change.
What a god given talent
Oh, yeah - the band is cooking with rocket fuel!
My dad hipped me to the fact that Hank Crawford influenced David Sanborn.
I am very thankful that I was I was able to watch episodes of Night Music. I was exposed to music and musicians I would have never heard. I don’t well see another show like Night Music again. It was way ahead of its time.
Yes, it's amazing that Night Music ever made it onto network t.v.--late night or no. There's been nothing like that before or since. Sadly, America has never appreciated & celebrated its own art & culture. Kudos to David Sanborn and whoever it was at the network that managed to get Night Music on the air.
Lyrics: Oh, beautiful for spacious skies For amber waves of grain For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain America! America! God shed His grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea From sea to shining sea Yeah, from sea to shining sea
Yes Gladys Knight one of the greatest female singers that ever lived a beautiful smooth voice
Dang we miss that guy.
